The Ashley Shuyler Leadership Fund

The Ashley Shuyler Leadership Fund supports girls and young women in Africa to access quality education and to participate in leadership trainings that provide them with the knowledge and skills to transform their life stories and the future of their communities.

The Fund will support a variety of African girls and young women in achieving their dreams of completing primary and secondary education, participating in vocational training, pursuing higher education, and/or launching a local business.

The Fund is named in honor of Ashley Shuyler who founded AfricAid at the age of 16, served as its Executive Director, and led AfricAid in raising over $1,000,000 and reaching 40,000 young Tanzanians. In the summer of 2011, Ashley stepped down from her position as Executive Director but continues to serve on AfricAid’s Board of Directors. Much like the Tanzanian girls she has supported for a decade, Ashley has decided to pursue her dreams of higher education by attending Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business with a specific focus on social entrepreneurship.
