Scholarships
AfricAid has provided hundreds of scholarships for young African girls, affording them an education and the opportunity to have a voice in their own future and that of their community and nation.
With scholarships ranging from $250 for one year of day school to $800 for a year at a boarding school, AfricAid provides a variety of ways in which you can help give the gift of an education to a young African student.

Maasai Girls’ School
The Maasai Girls’ School was founded in 1996 and was the first of its kind in Tanzania to offer a secondary education to young Maasai girls, who have historically had few educational opportunities. The boarding school is the home for over 250 girls who are drawn from around Tanzania and its rural communities, and who would not otherwise have the chance to go to secondary school. Your donation of $800 will provide a one-year boarding school scholarship for a young girl there.
Ebenezer Girls’ Secondary School
The Ebenezer Girls’ Secondary School is a Tanzanian day school that began operations in 2007, and that now serves over 250 girls from the surrounding community of Ngaramtoni in Arusha. A day school scholarship for a full-year for a girl at Ebenezer is only $250. If you would like to help sponsor a girl, please click here.
Upendo Primary School
The Upendo Primary School offers an innovative program to introduce English instruction at the primary school level in Tanzania, in contrast to most primary schools, which teach in Swahili. This is intended to give its students a head start in English skills and thus improve their ability to later pass the mandatory secondary school exams that will allow them to continue on with their education, and that are all conducted in English. Your donation of $450 will provide a Tanzanian student with a full year of schooling at Upendo.
Assistant Medical Officer (AMO) Program
The Assistant Medical Officer (AMO) Program is a new two-year program at Selian Hospital, one of Tanzania’s leading medical facilities, to train clinical officers to become assistant medical officers, as opposed to certified physicians. These medical practitioners, many of whom will be women, will then be able to serve in the rural areas of Tanzania, where it is increasingly difficult to attract fully-trained doctors. The two-year cost to train an AMO is expected to be approximately $3,000. If you would like to help sponsor some or all of the training cost for an AMO, please click here.
Zambian Help Fund
The Zambian Help Fund is a scholarship fund for secondary school students in Zambia. These students, who attend free community primary schools in the capital of Lusaka, would otherwise not be able to continue their schooling past the seventh grade without help. Your donation of only $200 will provide a full year of secondary schooling for a Zambian child.
